Eerikinkatu 41 is a development where the former head offices of an insurance company (designed by architect Eino Tuompo 1967) in the middle of Helsinki were converted to residential use. The buildings along the edge of the street were renovated and a new residential point block was built inside the courtyard, between the other two. It was a relatively simple job to integrate the ribbon elevations of the office buildings as a part of the predominantly residential street scene: the elevations of the residential buildings are articulated with ‘framed’ French balconies.
